"Nothing is more fulfilling for a
storyteller than finding, creating and telling stories. I
discovered years ago, that I had to use colour, materials
and shapes as my 'fluent tongue' - my language to tell these
beautiful stories. Using a narrative full of exact words,
words that are very precise in each element, almost with
scientific accuracy, nothing is left to chance or without
purpose. Rather, everything is carefully arranged. All is
deliberate and nothing is meaningless. But, even the most
precise science invites the viewers to move into their
personal space of introversion and speculation. I love that.
Exposed to the exact same elements, each individual is
somehow forced to create a different story that is unique to
them. It doesn't matter if the painting was originally
etched in essence with a fragrance. All our individual
senses will work differently. One piece of art will invoke
many different thoughts and feelings, shadowing and
reflecting the diversity of our human individuality. I
created this work to awaken your senses. Now, have a look,
listen and feel what they mean to you. I hope my painted
words will resonate with you in an exciting, unique and
unexpected way. Mirabile dictu…" Jordi Forniés -

"...Jordi has an extraordinary ability to make images
that arrest us, stop us in our tracks – his mastery of
colour is an important part of their impact. And as we
approach them we are captivated by the worlds that each
canvas contains: the varied textures and details, the
pictures within pictures."

Jordi
Forniés
(born in Huesca, 1971) is a Catalan artist based in Dublin
(Ireland). A chemist by training, Jordi knows a thing or two
about pigments and paint.
His
experience in this area combined with a very strong interest
in the mineral world has lead Jordi to reinvent or
re-interpret the complex yet beautiful landscapes within and
without, mixing traditional and cutting edge design
techniques. Sculpting external material into the canvas
before blending colours as time would in rock formations,
the artist invites us on a journey through the inner self,
exploring the geology of the mind, the meandering of distant
memories, the erosion of emotions, the passing of love.
Similarly, the raised patterns and subtle tones and hues
used in his external landscapes convey the artist's
emotional engagement with the world around him.
